The player you have not mentioned in nine weeks
Notes are for you. What they add up to is for the players you have stopped seeing.
Talk or type about your squad; it separates what you said about each player from what you said about the team.

On the drive home, out loud, before you lose it.
Why
It catches the player you mention every week and the one you never mention at all. The second is usually the more important finding.
The mistake most coaches make
Only writing a note when something happens. Something happening is exactly what makes a player memorable, so a notebook of incidents is a record of your loudest players and silence about everybody else.

In practice
A coach found they had not mentioned one player in nine weeks of notes. Nothing was wrong with the player; they were simply easy to coach and therefore invisible.
